Olympus - climbing
In 2003, a few climber buddies undertook the
management of "Christos Kakalos" refuge on Olympus mountain. The beginning
was really tough for them but interesting ans inspiring too. Apart from
offering services to the visitors of the mountain, they were also spending
long days rock climbing on the suround cracks, whenever possible. In this
way, old climbing routes became alive again, new ones were opened, not to
mention the old or new winter routes. During the last years, several new
climbing routes were added to the old ones, reaching the number of 64, which
are characterised by various difficulty grades.
Anyhow mountain Olympus is not identical only to rock climbing and mountaineering. This is why we created this website: to express our ideas and opinions covering a wide area, from trecking, climbing and ski to scientific topics, the special flora and the fauna, ecological topics, history etc.
