Olympus - climbing
Mount Olympus besides being the highest mountain of Greece as well as an important place concerning the country’s mythology and history comprises a complex and unique ecosystem. The complexity of this ecosystem is derived by its morphological structure, its biodiversity as well as from the human interference with the biota.
The present website was created by the people managing refuge Christos Kakkalos in an effort to gather all the available information concerning Mount Olympus’ geology, flaura and fauna as well as the human activities taking place (historical facts, accommodation in refuges, hiking, climbing, skiing, mountain biking) in this unique environment. This website is open to everyone willing to contribute and share his thoughts and experiences about Mount Olympus.
